A rapid snowstorm is affecting northern Syria this evening and extending into northern Iraq.

Arab Weather - Weather experts at Arab Weather said that the results of computer simulation models indicate that northern Syria will be affected by unstable weather conditions, starting from the evening and night hours of Thursday/Friday, coinciding with the positioning of a very cold Siberian air mass over the region.

Accordingly, a snowstorm is expected to hit several northern regions of Syria, including the Syrian coastal highlands, parts of Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Qamishli, especially the areas adjacent to the Turkish border, where heavy snowfall is expected for several hours, leading to snow accumulations that may hinder public life and transportation.

Forecasts indicate that these weather conditions will extend to northern Iraq on Friday, particularly the Kurdistan Region, where heavy and accumulating snowfall is expected on most of the northern highlands, with effects that may disrupt public life.

As for the rest of Iraq, unstable weather prevails, accompanied by rainfall and hail showers. The rain may sometimes be mixed with snow in some areas, especially during the night and early morning hours, God willing.
